1st Bimester Project 1st Bimester Project Presentation Transcript

    • FIRST BIMESTER PROJECT PRIMARY SECTION 2009-2010 SCIENCE AND COMPUTER DEPARTMENTS FIFTH GRADE OCTOBER 2009 . CELL VS MY SCHOOL
    • CELL VS MY SCHOOL
    • Introduction Students work individually to create models of cell organelles on the computer using Paint.Net and Microsoft Word, demonstrating the functions of the cell organelles, comparing these with the part of the school that has a similar function .
    • Objective: In Science our goal in this project will be to understand how these organelles work together to help the cell do its work. And in computer we will check the use of Word and Pain.net
    • Introduction In this 1 st bimester we are looking at cells, the basic units of life. Even though cells are the basic units, they are still organized and made of smaller structures. Just as the body is made of organs each having different shapes and functions, the cells are made of organelles, which also have their own shape and function. We will be studying the following organelles:
    •
      • Oral report: You will prepare an oral report on your project. In your report, you should tell the class: About cell organelles
        • What is the structure of the organelles? (What does it look like?)
        • Where is it located in the cell? [(Location)]
      • What does it do for the cell (what are its functions ).
        • You should be able to explain how each organelle is related to a part of your school. Explaining what the organelle does and how that fits in with the rest of the cell. (Functions)
      Requirements
      • What does it do for the cell (what are its functions ).
        • You should be able to explain how each organelle is related to a part of your school. Explaining what the organelle does and how that fits in with the rest of the cell. (Functions)
        • A digital presentation: in computer class you will design a model using Paint.net and Word that you will use during your presentation to show the class what the organelle looks like.
      • “ Be creative!”
      • Steps to create a digital presentation
      • The 1st step to create a digital presentation, is to create your own cell in Paint.net , there you will find all the tools you need to create the cell you need to present.
      • Second step: After the student is finish designing the cell in Paint.net they will then copy the cell and paste it in to Microsoft Word so that they can add Hyperlinks to the page. Hyperlinks are tools that allow you to go somewhere else, but before you add a hyperlink you have so save a web page or a folder in order for the hyperlink to work. The computer teacher will help and give a brief lesson on how to put a hyperlink. To insert a hyperlink all you have to do is click on Insert and click on HYPERLINK . From then on you will label the hyperlink to its respective name.
      • Cooperation from the computer teacher will be given
        • At the end please attach to the Virtual Classroom (Science).
    • Grading sheet Science   Possible Points Points Given 1. Class work 15 2. Information presented — clear, precise, covers everything that it should 20   5. Digital Presentation displays in a creative way all important info creatively 15
    • Computer   Possible Points Points Given 1. Class work 10 2. Managing Paint.net: Designing a good cell using only Paint.net 20   5. Managing Microsoft Word Using Microsoft word to it’s full potential by inserting Hyperlinks, and presenting a good Presentation 20
