Our Project OverviewLearning objective: Students are invited to explorehow Mathematics is used in their communities andtake action to promote greater equity in the worldaround them.Expected outcomes:•Students investigate how Mathematics is connectedto solve daily routine problems.•Collaborative learning in data collection.•Collaborative development of a set of images toserve as a resource on culturally relevant teachingfor Math educators globally.
  • 3. Identified ProblemEvery week some children do not attendschool due to toothache.
  • 4. Self – Review of Eating Habits The class decided to conduct a self – review on theireating habits. They were given a questionnaire to complete byreviewing their eating habits for a week
  • 5. Data Collection Students constructed bar graph by using thecollected data.
  • 6. Data Analysis Students analysed the collected data and presented aPictograph and Bar graph using Graph Mastersoftware. They made a pictograph on tooth brush in a day andthen generated a frequency bar graph on “Number oftimes students brush in a day” After data analysis, class wanted to find out how manytimes one should brush so a Skype session wasplanned

Visit by Dentist Fareeda Kazalbash Before this session students recalled their Sciencelesson on “Healthy Living” . Students were given demonstration through modeldenture for proper way of brushing teeth. Tips about healthy and strong teeth were given Students were given opportunity to ask questions toclear their concerns.
