  3. 3. My career in digital media started with award winning digital media agency, Magic Lantern They create interactive experiences, across digital platforms www. magiclantern .co. uk
  4. 4. <ul><li>For the past 5 years, I worked at Channel 4, one of the UK’s terrestrial broadcasters, and a cutting edge media brand </li></ul>
  5. 5. I created content, games, e-commerce partnerships, and applications… on channel4.com and on Channel 4 mobile Across different genres, and for varied audiences…
  6. 6. In 2007, I launched channel4.com/food A food magazine, and programme support website <ul><li>By 2008, it had become the largest commercial website in the UK </li></ul><ul><li>with over 1 million unique users, and up to 10 million hits per month </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Rather than wait for the people to find the content on channel4.com </li></ul>We brought the content to the people Through syndication deals, and widgets and web 2.0 tools to help people share it across digital networks (Plus some clever SEO work to make sure that if people wanted to find the content, they could)

I worked with advertisers to align client’s brands with Channel 4 content, and reach lucrative ABC1 audiences Some examples: Simple advertorial microsites showcasing new products, for clients such as Volvo , with inventory across channel4.com And editorial content created exclusively for commercial brands e.g Roc sponsored the build of a user generated age game, Guess My Age , plus a series of exclusively commissioned beauty videos

In 2008, I launched the Big British Food Map www.channel4. com/foodmap <ul><li>An 8 month campaign to find the nation’s favourite place to eat in Britain. </li></ul>A google map mash-up was built where users could recommend places… Building up a database of great recommendations of places to eat
  10. 10. <ul><li>We sent a journalist on a road </li></ul><ul><li>trip for 8 months round Britain, </li></ul><ul><li>visiting the places our users had </li></ul><ul><li>suggested. </li></ul><ul><li>He kept a video diary about his journey </li></ul>Plus lots of beautiful photos And a constant feedback dialogue with the website users…
  11. 11. The Big British Food Map was sponsored by Ford Focus Econetic <ul><li>Ford branding was incorporated across all map content, with Ford pre-roll ads on video, and inventory running across most of channel4.com </li></ul>and of course… the journalist was driving a Ford Focus Econetic!
