CPI The Polytechnic City of Innovation is a new cooperation model conceived by the Technical University of Valencia with the purpose of putting all its scientific potential at the service of research and business development Collaborative and commissioned R+D+I Joint activities between the UPV and private enterprises can be arranged through different mechanisms: • General Co- operation Agreements • R+D Projects • Software and Patent Licences • Technological support • Technical products or service sales • Rendering of a technical service (measurements or reports) or sale of a product manufactured at the UPV as a result of UPV research. 5

ITACA Institute The ITACA Institute is an research and development entity of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, created with the aim of promoting and undertaking scientific research, technological development and technology transfer initiatives in the field of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). 6

Technologies for Health and Wellbeing There are two main research areas from the business strategy perspective within the TSB group E-Health E-Inclusion These areas are sustained by the following technology research areas: • Information Systems Platforms • Wireless Communication • Knowledge Management • Ambient Intelligence • User Experience 8

Participation in Research Programs • TSB has a large experience participating in international and national research programs in the e-health and e-inclusion field including the management of large consortiums. • TSB is one of the leading groups, in Spain and in Europe, in the research and development of AmI vision. It is the founder of the Experimental Research Centre of AMbient Intelligence Applications and Services (acronym in spanish, CIAMI) 9

Relevant Projects PIPS – Personalised information platform for life & health services • For citizens  PIPS provides all the information needed at the point of decision (home, supermarket, restaurant, gym) for maintaining a healthy lifestyle by means of a personalised information platform. 16

Relevant Projects OPTIMA – Real time location system for surgery time and equipment optimization • Main results: indoor location system based on Bluetooth and Zigbee (new version) • Commercial applications for: – New generation of teleassistance system for elderly at home – Identification and traceability of patients in emergency rooms – Kids control in Summer School al the University 17

Relevant Projects SENSATION – Sleep monitoring disorders by body sensor area network • Development of different Sensors based on micro and nano technologies • Connection to a Body Sensor Area Network that makes possible the synchronized transmission of all the data acquired by the body sensors • Sleep disorder applications in medical, industrial and transport sectors 18

Relevant Projects ASK-IT – Ambient Intelligence System of Agents for Knowledge-based and Integrated Services for Mobility Impaired users • Aims at establish AmI in semantic web enabled services, to support and promote the mobility of Mobility Impaired people • Main technologies: Intelligent agents (over light weight devices), integration of wearable health devices, AI reasoning techniques on light weight devices, OSGi platforms… 19

Relevant Projects PERSONA – Perceptive Spaces Promoting Independent Aging • Main goal: To empower elderly people to feel included, secure, protected and supported, by development of Ambient Assisted Living products and services for the achievement of more autonomy and quality in their lives. • Technology development: AAL system reference architecture, micro- and nano- electronics, embedded systems, human-machine interfaces, intelligent software tools for decision support… 20

Relevant Projects CIAMI – Experimental Research Centre of AMbient Intelligence Applications and Services • Living Lab: Digital home with the necessary infrastructure to deploy and extensively test any AmI application • Technology development: To be installed in the house an exhaustive number of sensors and actuators, multimedia devices, interaction mechanisms, software infrastructure… everything that can be needed to build AmI applications 21
