  • The operating system software providing a platform for developers to combine the function of a camera phone and a personal digital assistant(PDA). First smart phone was developed by IBM Simon 1992 and showed at the Computing Industry Trade Show in Las Vegas Nevada. It was later sold by Bell South to the public in 1993.
  • This benefits business people due to the fact that they can hold meeting/ conferences over the phones due to the invention of the second camera found at the front of the smart phone allowing the other person on the conference to see you. This reduces transport cost and they can hold meetings at any moment. This reduces the transport costs as the person does not have to be there physically.Smart phones allow you to interact with friends and family around the world at very low costs due to the operating's system such as msn messenger, Skype and yahoo chat.
  • They found that all the users have access to the information they need.   • Cells phone vendors have seen this huge opportunity and are developing technology to enhance their market share.But by this many local dealers had reduced the price in the market.Smart phones demonstrates strong growth or potential as both enterprices and consumers continue to show interest in the devices combing data and technology and telephony capabilities due to the fact that smart phones improve peoples lives.
  • In the education department smart phones are very user friendly allowing students to be able to research or find any inforamtion on the internet without having to go to the library or find a computer to research with.Smart phones are the way of improving time taken on tasks and improving the way we communicated with other people and the way how we work.Smart phones are being developed so that it is small enough to fit in our packets, light so so they do not weigh that much and stylish so that it could be an fashion accessory.

      A smart phone is a phone that offers advanced computing ability and connectivity than a contemporarily feature phone.
      They are handheld computers with integrated operating systems with features such as Java ME² which allows users to install and run advanced applications.
      Such as the ability to create documents, address book, clock, calendar, note pad and even the ability to send and receive emails.

      • 5. With a smart phones it is portable free environment by allowing you to do your work such as essay writing, doing presentations and Microsoft office(power point, excel and work).
      • 6. Many black berry's and nokia phones are the most popular smart phone in this generation.
      • 7. Smart phones allow you to keep in contact with your favourite social networking site such as Facebook, Myspace and twitter. They allow you to upload high quality pictures, videos and keep time updates.

      • Researches of the black berry team found that black berry's is the ideal way to stay connected on and off campus, administrators, staff and students all have mobile access to information they need to get work done.

      • 12. And a projected growth rate of 44%in 2008.
    • Women want iPhones, Men want Droids
      According to October 2010 data from The Nielsen Company, 29.7 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers now own smartphones that run full operating systems.
      When mobile users who planned to upgrade to a smartphone in the next year were asked about their next phone, Apple’s IOS and Android were tied for “most desired” operating system.
      •Among users planning to get a new smartphone, current smartphone owners showed a preference for the Apple iPhone (35 percent), while 28 percent of both smartphone and feature phone planned smartphone upgraders indicated they wanted a device with an Android operating system as their next mobile phone.
      •Women planning to get a smartphone are more likely to want an iPhone as their next device, with slightly more males preferring Android.

      •RIM is the dominant mobile Web platform in the Dominican Republic. BlackBerry also drives a considerable share of mobile Web traffic in Guatemala, the UK, Colombia and El Salvador.
