2. ABOUT THE PERSON INTERVIEWED…
A female student that recently graduated in
Economics in a prestigious US university and has
come back to Venezuela (her home country) in
order to enter the labour market
3. SAY SECTION (1 OF 2)
“I want to start working as soon as possible”
“Yes, I have already prepared my one-page resumé but I
don’t know if it is appropiate for the Venezuelan market”
“I know I want to work for a large multinational company
because they pay well and give their employees a good
training”
“Working for a multinational company gives me the
possibility to be transferred abroad”
“I have not decided yet in which company area I want to
work, I am not sure”
“I like marketing but I also like finance. I do not know
what to do”
“I wonder if I will find a job as the one I want”
4. SAY SECTION (2 OF 2)
“I also wonder what would be the best way to go about
finding a job”
“Since I have spent more than five years in the US I do
not have many contacts in Venezuela to help me find a
job”
“The political and economic situation in Venezuela is not
very good. This will affect my job prospects”
“I wonder what my salary will be. Salaries here are low
and prices are high. This affect my purchasing power”
Who could give me coaching support to help find a job?
What can I do if I cannot find a job?
“Many multinational companies are leaving the country”
5. DO SECTION
The person appears a little bit insecure and
pessimistic. There appears to be some deeper
thoughts that the person did not communicate
6. THINK AND FEEL SECTIONS (1 OF 2)
This person seems to have a pessimistic view about the
future
This pessimism is more related to the current state of
her country (Venezuela). For the past 14 years a
radical, left-wing government have been implementing
very negative measures that have affected the economy
and the business environment in general
As a result of this, many multinational companies have
left the coountry and every day that goes by there are
fewer and fewer decent job opportunities
This person wonders whether she could find a job in one
of these companies since she has no working
experience (only internships) and usually the number of
competing candidates for a job is high
7. THINK AND FEEL SECTIONS (2 OF 2)
She wonders who could coach her about how to best
approach entering the job market
She sees working for a multinational company as a way
to be transferred abroad, but at the same time she does
not want to leave her parents and siblings behind in
Venezuela
She also has doubts about in which company area to
work. She doesn’t know yet and this reinforces her
insecurity
Although she did not mention this point, she also
wonders whether she could get married and start a
family in the future
8. THE PROBLEM STATEMENT
Stakeholder:
Well-prepared economist in early 20s
US graduate
Trilingual (Spanish, French, English)
Seeking a full-time job for the first time
Concern about the future
Strong analytical capability, leadership, and creativity
9. THE PROBLEM STATEMENT
Problem/Need:
She wants to find a job in a multinational company in a
hostile environment and despite not having prior work
experience. She expects to use her job as a platform for
being transferred abroad in the future and pursue a
better life
10. THE PROBLEM STATEMENT
Insight:
Her needs/problems to find a good job in a multinational
company are more than justified given the dreadful
environment in the country. Good job opportunities are
diminishing fast as multinationals are leaving the
country due to adverse situation. Not having prior work
experience puts her at a disadavantage in relation to
other competing candidates.
