The slides present some of the research from a new book, The New Polymath - which is excerpted and reviewed at www.thenewpolymath.com . Polymath is Greek for Renaissance Person good at many disciplines. It's about how enterprises are learning to put together 3,5, 15 strands of infotech, cleantech, biotech etc to create compound innovations - new algorithms, new energy and new medicine

Notes
  • The slides present some of the perspectives from a new book, The New Polymath - which is excerpted and reviewed at www.thenewpolymath.com . 'Some' is the key word - The book is 400 pages and discusses over 100 innovators using a wide range of technologies - infotech, biotech, clenatech. nanotech - etc so the Ignite 20 slide, 5 minute format above can only present a thin slice of the content.

  • 2. The glorious tech “consumerization” decade "I would rather compete with Sony than compete in another product category with Microsoft” - Steve Jobs, 2001
  • 3. Not just Apple, of course
  • 4. “ The Den is mightier than the Board” a flight path – one from a passenger GPS on the flight; the other from a tracking website ..neither from the airline itself ..and available to passenger for “near free” Every industry has similar examples
