Big and Open Data power data analytic applications with a massively parallel processing (MPP) analytics engine that stores and processes big data analytics together with data. Our research deals with breakthrough performance and scalability at competitive edge in the following areas:

Enable new analytics: Big data analytics framework with pattern and graph analysis to define and to develop new applications - including digital marketing optimization, fraud detection and prevention, and social network and relationship analysis.
Accelerate analytics development: mainly with R programming. This includes Open Data analytics and Open Data systems.
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics: theory and application of computers and statistical techniques to analyse biomedical information. Grasia group provides expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics analysis by tools that comprise data base analysis, algorithm design and programming in R language.

Other important goals are to transfer the developed technology and to facilitate the collaboration with several research centres and institutes in order to provide a rich environment for students to be trained and educated, with a strong foundation in Big Data, Open Data and Bioinformatics, since these profiles are in great demand in academia, industry, and government.
