Slide 2: The Human Tragedy •Each day 800 million people go hungry. •Among them are 170 million children under 5 years of age.

Slide 5: FAHC Campaign’s Objectives •To help some of the most needy orphanages/schools/charities that take care of poor, destitute, and underprivileged children by providing assistance with the feeding needs of the identified children one by one and to continue assisting them when they need it most. •Encourage, collaborate, and work with partnering individuals and organizations to join the fight against global poverty.

Slide 6: Facts: Uneven Income Distribution •20% of the world’s population lives on the equivalent of less than USD 1 a day. •Fully half of the human race earns less than USD 2 a day •The income of the richest 1% of our planet equals that of the poorest 57%

Slide 7: Facts: A focus on Children •One-third of preschool children in developing countries are malnourished. •Malnutrition among preschool children - impairs their mental and physical development. - compromises their future health, productivity, and food security. - Undermines economic growth and social justice.

Slide 8: Facts: The Cost of Child Malnutrition Malnutrition - is a factor in more than 5 million deaths of children under five. - accounts for 20-25% of the economic impact of childhood diseases in developing world. - reduces gross domestic product by 0.7% annually in India and 0.5% in China

Slide 9: Facts: Aids Access to basic services for everyone would cost approximately $US40 billion more per year than is spent now. This is 0.1% of world income. •World military spending is $US780 billion per year. •US$50 billion is spent on cigarettes in Europe every year. •The amount of money the UK spends on chocolate each year could make Africa not live in poverty.

Slide 11: What we can do 1. Have a direct fund collection “Chip-In”. 2. Have a cookbook sale – “You can Cook”. 3. Have talent shows. 4. Have sports tournaments. 5. Wear Orange ribbons and wristbands. 6. Organize dinners, cooking shows and competitions, and special events. Money from these go to charities.

Slide 13: Group Cookbook Project – “You Can Cook” The purpose of this project is two pronged, - documenting disappearing recipes along with practical hands-on cooking advice. - larger goal of raising funds from the sales Cookbook project goals: 3. 365 traditional/heirloom recipes. 4. All recipes from the public domain – 300+ authors. 5. Deadline for recipe submissions – February 28, 2007. 6. To sell 100,000 copies in 2007.
