    • Sport is strongly supported and considered as one of the instruments for healthy lifestyle.
    • the aim is to gain international recognition and approval
    • Sport is importan t for the society as a whole.
  • 3. Slovenia in the Olympics
    • Slovenes have been competing in the Olympics since 1912
    • Slovenian flag was for the first time at the Olympic Games in Albertville in 1992.
    • So far, they have won 51 Olympic medals
  • 4. Winning disciplines
    • Slovene sportsmen and women are very successful at international level.
    • The best results are gained in ski-ing, athletics, ski-jumping, gymnastics, swimming and white-water canoeing, basketball, volleyball, handball and, more recently, in European Cup football.
    • Mountaineering and Alpinism have a very long tradition in Slovenia
