  2. 2. Sport in Slovenia <ul><li>Sport is strongly supported and considered as one of the instruments for healthy lifestyle. </li></ul><ul><li>the aim is to gain international recognition and approval </li></ul><ul><li>Sport is importan t for the society as a whole. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Slovenia in the Olympics <ul><li>Slovenes have been competing in the Olympics since 1912 </li></ul><ul><li>Slovenian flag was for the first time at the Olympic Games in Albertville in 1992. </li></ul><ul><li>So far, they have won 51 Olympic medals </li></ul>
  4. 4. Winning disciplines <ul><li>Slovene sportsmen and women are very successful at international level. </li></ul><ul><li>The best results are gained in ski-ing, athletics, ski-jumping, gymnastics, swimming and white-water canoeing, basketball, volleyball, handball and, more recently, in European Cup football. </li></ul><ul><li>Mountaineering and Alpinism have a very long tradition in Slovenia </li></ul>
