  • 2. The concept of strategy is ancient. The word itselfcomes from the Greek strategia, Which means thescience or art of being general. Effective Greekgenerals needed to Lead an army ,win and holdterritory, protect cities from invasion, and wipe outthe Enemy.The Greek knew that strategy was more thanfighting battles.Effective generals had to determine right line ofsupply, decide when to fight and when not tofight, and manage the army relationship withcitizens, politicians, and diplomats .
