How has any country
grown through the years ?
It is not only because of
the brilliant minds of the past,
but, as well as the contributions of

teachers all over the country.
“A teacher affects eternity;
he can never tell
where his influence stops.”
~ Henry Adams

Former President of India,
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam,
referred to the need of education
for building the nation, and said
if we want to build a strong nation,
we have to pay attention to
bringing up the new generation

“Teach the children
so that it will not be necessary
to teach the adults.”

“The solution to adult problems
tomorrow depends, in large measure,
on how children grow up today.
There is no greater insight into the
future than recognizing that when we
save our children we save ourselves.”
Margaret Mead

The TEACHERS
are the builders
of the nation’s future.
The classroom is where
we will shape the mind and character
of the next generation.
Beyond knowledge and skill,
what the nation needs is
a generation of leaders
with integrity and character.
what we need are teachers
who reach into the hearts of young people.

Inspiring Thoughts of
Swami Vivekananda on Education and Society
The education
which does not help
the common mass of people
to equip themselves
for the struggle for life,
which does not bring out
strength of character,
a spirit of philanthropy,
and the courage of a lion –
is it worth the name?
Inspiring Thoughts of
Swami Vivekananda on Education and Society
Education
is not the amount of information
that is put into your brain
and runs riot there,
undigested all your life.
We must have
life-building,
man-making,
character-making,
assimilation of ideas.
Inspiring Thoughts of
Swami Vivekananda on Education and Society
The only service to be done
for our lower classes
is to give them education,
to develop their
lost individuality.
Give them ideas –
that is the only help
they require, and
then the rest must follow
as the effect.
Inspiring Thoughts of
Swami Vivekananda on Education and Society
We want that education
by which character is formed,
strength of mind is increased,
the intellect is expanded,
and by which one can stand
on one’s own feet.
Every nation
must establish
an equitable,
democratic, and
egalitarian

Man,
at birth without guidance,
is not more than an animal.

The profession of teaching :
it is a way of life;
it is being a role model;
it has the responsibility of
showing the way;
it is to be considered

as a life-long duty. 25
Teachers’ duty is
to fight any ignorance,
any backwardness and
all types of poverty.
His duty is to bring about anything
that comes under the term goodness.

The service of teacher
demands that
the teacher ought to be good and fit
morally, psychologically and mentally.
- not merely confined to school hours
but to the whole life.

“What the teacher is,
is more important
than what he teaches.”
~ Soren Kierkegaard

Education for mor al
and democr atic
progress
• Education, and nothing else, can and
should assume the responsibility for
directing intellectual, moral and social
behaviour. The safety of the state
depends on the 'safe' citizen. Education
must work for creating order, stability,
and loyalty – without which no progress
can be achieved and sustained.

Character Education
• Character education involves
the preparation of learners to be
responsible, caring and contributing
citizens.
• “Citizenship confers upon individuals
certain rights and privileges and,
more importantly, responsibilities and
obligations. They are expected
to contribute to community and
Julyto nation building.”
