    2. Fatiha Amara French feminist and politician, who began her political life as an advocate for women
    3. On June 19, 2007, although still a member and a municipal S councilor of the ocialist Party, she was appointed Secretary of State for Urban Policies
    4. She was active in supporting the expulsion from French secondary schools of young women wearing the Muslim headscarf
    5. Dr. Ingrid Mattson Ph.D. is a Canadian Muslim convert professor and activist and the current president of the Islamic Society of North America
    6. C Raised as a atholic, she ultimately abandoned religion "for good" during her teenage years, but converted to Islam at the end of her undergraduate studies.
    7. f Dr. Mattson is the first emale to lead the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
    8. Khadija Haffajee S Khadija Haffajee, originally from outh Africa, has resided in Ottawa for more than three decades. She is an educator and community activist in the Ottawa -Carleton region in general and the Muslim community in particular

    14. In May 2006, Siddiqui filed another formal complaint of racism against several Winnipeg Jewish community groups who cosponsored the movie Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West.
    15. In February 2004, Siddiqui filed a formal complaint under the "discriminatory signs and statements" section of the Manitoba Human Rights Code against B'nai Brith Canada.
    16. Zaynab Al-Ghazali Zaynab al-Ghazali is a woman of another kind. Like Aisha Abd al-Rahman, she is Egyptian and defends the rights of Muslim women in accordance with what she c perceives to be the orrect Islamic doctrine, and like her she is the daughter of an Azhar-educated father
    17. Zaynab al-Ghazali's ideas regarded the would-be Islamic state are very general and lack specificity on many points. Her believe in it, however, is no weaker for that reason. She believes there is no Islamic state on earth at present, i.e., one totally bound by the Shari`a and implementing it fully; not even Pakistan or Saudi Arabia qualifies to be called an Islamic state in her view.

    20. Dalia Mogahed P Dalia Mogahed, a veiled Egyptian American, will advise resident Obama on prejudices and problems faced by Muslims. Many Arabs hope it's a step toward reversing stereotyping.
    21. "Dalia Mogahed is the best example of a successful Muslim woman. She proves that the Muslim should be successful in all fields, at least in [her] area of specialization," a commentator wrote on the website of the independent daily Al Masry al Youm.
    22. Dalia Mogahed, senior analyst and executive director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, was appointed this month to Obama's Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
