NABARD Innovative Project -2012“Livelihood Improvement and Empowerment of Farmers through Integrated Farming Systems”
Project Implementation Area Lakshya Institute of Development Action & Studies have been working in two states MP & CG. In state of Chhattisgarh Lakshya has implemented this Rural Innovative project in 6 Tribal villages of Pondiuproda block of district Korba. Pondiuproda is a remote tribal block, located in hilly terrain surrounded by forests.

Challenges faced while Designing & Implementing the Innovative ProjectApproach road of village Maingadi Farmers of Uraav River in reaching Tribe field of Amaldeha Difficulty faced in reaching the remote tribal villages Maingadi, which was located 9 Kms uphill, and there was no proper approach road, biking was quite difficult and risky as well. For reaching fields of Amaldeha we need to cross river without any vehicle. Linguistic problem while interacting with tribal farmers. Illiteracy, Ignorance regarding latest happenings Hesitation among tribal to accept change. Bad experiences of poor BPL tribal farmers with either any NGO, Govt. dept or businessman.

Achievement from innovative project Production of 230 Qn of Banana costing approx. Rs 2 lacs from 1 Acre from Jagmohandas Panika’s plot in village Amaldeha. Increased production paddy from 10 Qn to 32-34 Qn in Kanakdas Panika’s plot in Amaldeha. Production of Tomatoes worth Rs. 60,000/- in 3 months in Dr. Hassan Mohd. Plot in village Tumaan. Successfully introduced advanced Agriculture techniques and installed Sprinkler & Drip systems in village Maingadi in Vijay Laakra & Rajeshwar Topo’s plots. Tribal Farmers learnt the art of Organic Manure Production & used their FYM for the purpose.
Replication of innovative project 18 Farmers are interested in developing Horticulture Orchid in their wadi. 115 farmers listed themselves with Lakshya for cultivation of paddy using SRI. Farmers gathered during the visit ofDDM NABARD [Korba] for replication 25 Farmers of the project villages are interested in constructing Vermicompost pit & NADEP in their farms. 48 Farmers applied for drip irrigation installationGathering of Rural women for adopting 11 Farmers applied for Bee-keeping units components of Innovative Program
