Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce, is a type of industry where buying and selling of product or service is conducted over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, internet advertising, inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems.

The phrase mobile commerce was originally coined in 1997 to mean "the delivery of electronic commerce capabilities directly into the consumer’s hand, anywhere, via wireless technology.“ “A retail outlet in your customer’s pocket." A report says, in January 2013, 29% of mobile users have now made a purchase with their phones.
  • 4. ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER (EFT) 1. Electronic funds transfer (EFT) is the electronic exchange, transfer of money from one account to another, either within a single financial institution or across multiple institutions, through computer-based systems.
  • 5. ONLINE ADVERTISING 1. 2. Online advertising, also called Internet advertising, uses the internet to deliver promotional marketing messages to consumers. It includes email marketing, search engine marketing, social media marketing, many types of display advertising (including web banner advertising), and mobile advertising.
  • 6. INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE 1. 2. Inventory management software is a computer-based system for tracking inventory levels, orders, sales and deliveries. It can also be used in the manufacturing industry to create a work order, bill of materials and other production-related documents. Companies use inventory management software to avoid product overstock and outages.

It refers to the strategies and techniques that are used for marketing of the products and services online. 3. Internet marketing helps in attracting customers as more and more people use internet now- a- days. 4. Internet is the widest channel of communication available for all kind of businesses therefore internet marketing allow to attract customers rapidly.

E-commerce or electronic commerce means buying or selling of products or services through electronic means such as internet, mobiles, telephones ,fax machines, ATMs. 2. E-commerce means paperless exchange of business information. 3. E-commerce uses strategies such as public, relations, referrals, banner ads. 4. Online shopping, online banking, teleconferencing, electronic tickets, instant messaging are some of the common business application related to ecommerce.

The success of any business at present strongly depends on Internet marketing as well as e-commerce. Therefore business requires both. Internet marketing and E-commerce both deals with online transactions. Internet marketing is a part of e-commerce. Internet marketing is similar to e- commerce online marketing or e- commerce website marketing.
  • 12. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INTERNET MARKETING & E-COMMERCE (CONT.) 1. 2. 3. Both E-commerce and internet marketing is available to the customer 24/7 and is inexpensive way of promoting business. Internet marketing is associated to various business models. It comprises of e-commerce business model where goods and services are sold directly to consumers (B2C), businesses (B2B) or from one consumer to other consumer (C2C).
  • 13. INTERNET MARKETING 1. Internet marketing only deals with business transactions carried through internet, emails, search engines. 2. Internet marketing looks from the advertising and branding perspective, it tries to grab the attention of the customers by attractive designs and ads. E-COMMERCE 1. 2. E-commerce carries business transactions through various electronic mediums like internet, mobiles, telephones, fax machines, ATMs, credit cards. E-commerce looks from the shop-keeper perspective it tries to figure out how the customers will search the product, who will buy it, what features, functionality and prices would the customers accept. E-commerce marketing is considered to be the sales aspect of e-business; it includes exchange of data to facilitate the financing and payment aspect of business transactions.
