Debunking The Myth On Online Dating - Presentation Transcript

    1. Debunking The Myth On Online Dating
      • Online dating has been gaining popularity on a daily basis, especially with movies like "You've Got Mail" and "Must Love Dogs", which brought the online dating scene to the general public.
      • Before you start saying no to online dating, let me first clarify a few myths than might have been running through your head.
      • Contrary to popular opinion, more and more people are now part of the web 2.0 culture. You have the countless blogs, social networking sites like Friendster, Multiply and Plurk, and the different forums.
MYTH #1: Online dating is a place for losers, and geeks.
      • Nowadays, the internet is not just for people who has no life. Even celebrities has started going online (as being more than part of the gossipmonger's tidbit). There's Alyssa Milano's MLB blog, David Beckham's blog, his wife, Victoria Beckham's style blog, the Olsen twins blog, and a whole lot more besides.
      • So now we've established that the internet is not just for geeks and losers. There are plenty of people going online. Everyone who owns a computer would most probably have an account in one social network or another.
      • These people interact with other people in the internet in a weekly basis to say the least. How unlikely is it for them to find someone they would be interested in online? Not a lot.
      • So I just went on in the first myth how everybody's in the internet nowadays. This does not mean however, that you should limit yourself to just meeting people online. The online world is just the same as the real world.
MYTH #2: Online dating is a better way to meet people than real life.
      • Sure, you get to meet people you wouldn't have otherwise met in your office, but I bet you'd also meet other new people in a bar or at a party, just in case you decide to go. In a sense, it is really all up to you. You are the one who decides when to take your chances into meeting someone new.
