To encourage believers, who were facing fearful suffering and give them Hope. To do this he reminded them of: their future inheritance(1:4-5) that suffering is for a purpose(1:6-7) that JESUS also suffered(2:21).• Peter exhorts them to be faithful to Christ in the midst of these bitter persecution whenever they come (1:12).
