Two Utopias Side-by-Side <ul><li>Animal Farm </li></ul><ul><li>Animals on a farm that want freedom </li></ul><ul><li>Old Major starts up a rebellion </li></ul><ul><li>There begins a converse with Snowball and Napoleon and Napoleon takes over </li></ul><ul><li>Life begins to become worse with Napoleon then with Mr. Jones </li></ul><ul><li>Pigs started to become more as humans then soon the animals cannot tell the difference between humans and pigs </li></ul><ul><li>Harrison Bergeron </li></ul><ul><li>It is 2081 and every one is equal and a handicap General is in triage </li></ul><ul><li>In the story they put this handicaps on people that are more advanced </li></ul><ul><li>Hazel and Gorge are watching a ballet on T.V. </li></ul><ul><li>Harrison a fourteen year old boy escapes prison and puts himself on broadcast </li></ul><ul><li>He tells people to take their handicaps off and the Handicap General comes in and shots him </li></ul>

Bergeron Farm Snowball Harrison <ul><li>Snowball is a pig </li></ul><ul><li>Snowball is more focused on building a better society </li></ul><ul><li>He is not forceful, but he is stubborn </li></ul><ul><li>Everyone is equal and the animals can speak their minds </li></ul><ul><li>Snowball tries to work with Napoleon </li></ul><ul><li>Both driven </li></ul><ul><li>Believe in a better society </li></ul><ul><li>Want freedom </li></ul><ul><li>Fight for what they believe in </li></ul><ul><li>Both are intelligent </li></ul><ul><li>Harrison is a fourteen year old boy </li></ul><ul><li>Harrison believes in differences then equality </li></ul><ul><li>He is a person that is strong and does not get pushed down easily </li></ul><ul><li>Harrison tries to fight against the handicap General </li></ul><ul><li>He is eliminated </li></ul>
  4. 4. Animal Farm Report Card <ul><li>Grade C. </li></ul><ul><li>In Animal Farm they began with equality </li></ul><ul><li>Then less and less the equality faltered as the pigs became more as humans and became “more equal then others” </li></ul>
  5. 5. America 2081 Report Card <ul><li>Grade D. </li></ul><ul><li>America in 2081 they did not show equality in any way </li></ul><ul><li>They only showed sameness only what is part of equality. Handicaps on people make them unequal to those around them </li></ul>

Orwell the Critic <ul><li>Orwell explained that equality and sameness in societies cannot work </li></ul><ul><li>There is no possible way one ruler can not dominant over everything </li></ul><ul><li>Plains of a utopian society can never stand strong </li></ul><ul><li>Soon someone or something will question the dominant control </li></ul>

Scott the Critic <ul><li>Orwell’s book Animal Farm is set on a farm with animals that want freedom and equality </li></ul><ul><li>Animal Farm explains how having one leader with absolute power can become too much in a society </li></ul><ul><li>When using the same tactics as your enemy makes you your enemy </li></ul><ul><li>Plains of a utopian society can never stand strong, people always will fight against what is holding them back </li></ul>

Vonnegut the Critic <ul><li>Vonnegut was more on the fact that the government is always trying to hind the truth </li></ul><ul><li>Equality and sameness it can not to be in two of the same societies </li></ul><ul><li>When Vonnegut writes about the handicaps it is kind of say imprisonment of difference </li></ul>

Scott the Critic <ul><li>Vonnegut’s story could reflected more on how people let the government do certain things and not fight against it </li></ul><ul><li>Having one leader that becomes domineering over everyone it represent simple minded thinking, it creates an unrealistic society </li></ul><ul><li>In America, in the year 2081, people did not do anything to fight against the Handicap General except for Harrison </li></ul><ul><li>Americans or anyone just would not stand around and not fight for their freedom </li></ul>

Tying it all Together <ul><li>Our world is full of wants and needs </li></ul><ul><li>Power is man kinds greatest weakness, every time someone possess a scents of control it goes straight to their heads </li></ul><ul><li>Equality is not sameness that is why sometimes it becomes hectic </li></ul><ul><li>People do not realize the difference is what makes us equal </li></ul><ul><li>Equality is when people are no better than any one else </li></ul>
