Innovation and R&D
India Scenario
Recognizing the need for growth in competitiveness, employment and economy, the Government
has declared 2010‐2020 as ‘decade of innovation’ giving impetus to R&D
• In engineering offshore R&D, India is the most preferred location across the globe
• R&D work related to product engineering worth around USD 42 billion to be outsourced to India by
2020
• Post 2005, MNC’s started to expand their presence in Tier II cities in addition to Tier I cities due to
higher catchment area, lower attrition and cost arbitrage
