  • 1. INTRODUCTION • Antacids are a type of medication that are used to treat the symptoms of heart burn and acid indigestion
  • 2. HOW ANTACIDS WORKS • Coat the Surface of the Esophagus with a protecting barrier against stomach acid • Produce a gel on the stomach’s surface which helps stop acid leaking up into the Esophagus, preventing the symptoms of heart burn.
  • 3. USES OF ANTACIDS • Antacids prevent the ulcer perforation by reducing the stomach acidity • And also it gives the oral relief from heart burn and Indigestion etc.,
  • 4. DISADVANTAGES • Too much calcium carbonate may cause rebound acidity because it may raise Ph too much • Sodium bicarbonate is effective but too much can throw off your body’s blood chemistry
  • 5. Conclusion • The synthetic Antacids had the greatest effect on the PH difference of the HCl, but in same time they were too potent in the fact it raise the PH too much
