  • 1. Im sure that many of you had heroes aschildren. They were sports players, moviesstars, or maybe a popular comic bookcharacter. You idolized them and knew all about theirheroic play that saved the game or how theywon the damsel in distress. Well, when I was aboy, I idolized a different kind of hero. Themen I looked up to had done a great serviceto our county. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 2. These men had gone abroad to fight the badguys and same the innocent people fromunrelenting tyrants and horrible fates. Theyfought for our country, and at no cheapprice. Many of them lost their lives for us, and weowe them a tremendous debt. In some waysthey were like Captain America orBatman, but they were real. They were ournations veterans. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 3. With time, I began to realize and understandto more of a greater degree what our men inuniform had really gone through in the past. These were young men, some only 17 or 18years old, that wanted to be in high schoolchasing girls and winning football games, butinstead they were called upon to put theirlives on the line for our country and manytimes for the free world itself. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 4. During the Second Word War, over 16 millionof Americas men signed up to do their part tosave the world from the hands of Hitler or Tojo.A good number of mothers and fathers losttheir children on the beaches ofNormandy, on the island of Peleliu, on BoisJaques in Belgium, or somewhere else weotherwise would have never heard of. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 5. The world lost a lot of heroes in those fouryears. Then, five years later, the young men wereonce again called upon to do their duty, thistime in Korea, where they fought in places likeIncheon, or Chosin. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 6. Then, six years after our boys were broughthome from it, they were introduced toanother kind of hell; Vietnam. Since then, wehave seen our men triumph in places likeIraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Cambodia, and the listgoes on.These men have given us so much. Withoutour veterans, we would not be free, and ourcountry would surely not be the same as it istoday, if it still existed. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 7. These heroes gave us this, and the price theyhad to pay, as well as the sacrifices they hadto endure should never be forgotten. As theysay, "those who do not remember history aredestined to repeat it."This year, take the time to give somethingback to these heroes who fought in theplaces I have mentioned. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 8. We can never repay them fully for what theyhave given us. You might ask yourself whatyou could do to help one of these giants?Well, one of the best ways to do it is to donateto a non-profit veterans organization. Many of our veterans need your help. It is saidthat while some veterans leave combat withtheir flesh untouched, no veteran leavescombat unscarred. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 9. All of these fine men and women needhelp, and these organizations help them getwhat they need. With our troops returning from the middleeast, many of them will need help dealingwith Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder, or needhelp from hospitals and care units to recoverfrom wounds sustained serving our country. www.GreenCollarVets.org
  • 10. It is the mission of these fine citizens to helpour vets get their lives back, and transitionfrom the service to a full recovery and normallife as a United States citizen. Please, make apoint this year to give something back tothose that have given you so much.Want to help veterans today? The supportand donate to us.
