  2. 2. Ethics : The Principles of behavior that conduct governing an individual or a group has about what is right & wrong or good & bad.<br />Environment Ethics: Study of the ethical basis of environment or discussion of the ethical basis of environmental protection. <br />
  3. 3. Why need to study Environmental Ethics?<br />To overcome the following questions.<br />What are the environment damage produce by the present generation?<br />What values must be give up to slow such damage?<br />
  4. 4. Environmental Damage<br />1) Pollution:<br />Air pollution<br />Water pollution<br />Land pollution<br />2) Resource depletion:<br />Depletion of Species & Habits<br />Depletion of Fossil fuels etc..<br />
  5. 5. The Ethical Values for Pollution Control<br /><ul><li>We should recognize our moral duty to protect the welfare not only a human beings, but also of other non-human parts of this system.
  6. 6. Usefulness of non-human world for human purposes.
  7. 7. Humans have no rights to reduce this richness & diversity expect to satisfy vital needs.
  8. 8. The ideological changes is mainly that of appreciating life quality, rather than to increase higher standard of living.

How much of the environment damages caused by several polluters should be counted as damage to my property .</li></li></ul><li>Ethical Values for Conserving depletable resources <br /><ul><li>Development that meets the needs of the present with comprising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
  10. 10. Proper utilisation of resources i.e. the people should maintain Ecological balance.
  11. 11. We should adopt voluntary measures to conserve the resources.
  12. 12. If we are to preserve enough scarce resources, so that future generation can maintain their quality of life at a satisfactory level.
  13. 13. Human have altered the natural system of the earth. </li></li></ul><li>Environmental Ethics Principles<br /><ul><li>We should have profound respect for nature.
  14. 14. We must maintain a harmonious relation with other species.
  15. 15. Everyone should take responsibility for this impact on nature.
  16. 16. Local & indigenous environmental knowledge should be respected.

We must plan for the long term.</li></li></ul><li>Business can have three types of role<br />Preventive Role:It means business should take all steps so that no further damage is done to the environment. For this, business must follow the regulations laid down by government to control pollution<br />Curative Role : It means business should rectify whatever damage has been done to the environment. In Addition, if it is not possible to prevent pollution then simultaneous curative measures can be taken<br />Awareness Role: It means making people (both the employees as well as the general public) aware about the causes and consequences of environmental pollution so that they voluntarily try to protect rather than damage the environment<br />
