Employability during difficult times - Presentation Transcript

    1. Employability during difficult times
    2. THE CARROT, THE EGG AND THE COFFEE BEAN
    3. PUT THEM IN WATER AND BOIL…..
    4. THEY CHANGE CHARACTER….. The carrots went in hard. They are now soft. The eggs went in soft inside. Now they are hard inside. The coffee powder has disappeared but the water has the colour and the wonderful smell of coffee.
    5. Are you like the carrot… or the egg… or the coffee bean? WHAT ARE YOU LIKE WHEN THINGS DO NOT GO WELL?
    6. NOW THINK ABOUT LIFE. Life is not always easy. Life is not always comfortable. Sometimes life is very hard. People don’t treat us like we hope. We work very hard but get few results. What do we do when we face difficulties ?
    7. You can choose to be like the coffee beans. You make something good from the difficulties you face.
    8. Problems and difficulties will give you the chance to become stronger … and better … and tougher .
    9. AND TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR EFFORTS, BE WELL PREPARED.
      • MINIMUM ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYABILITY
      • Good communication skills – verbal and written
      • Knowledge of English
      • Knowledge of one local language (more the better!)
      • Clarity of thought
      • Knowledge relevant to job
      • All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them.
      • Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined.
      • You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.
      • Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so.
      TO BELIEVE YOU CAN DO….
      • APTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
      • Companies must give an aptitude test during the recruitment process.
      • This test is to check if the applicant has the right aptitude and if he/she will fit into the job.
      • Before the candidates apply, they must ask themselves ‘Do I really want this job?”
      • By answering the question in the affirmative, half the battle is won!
      • The rest is only about how to get it right and how to prove to the seniors why you are the best choice!
      • HOW COMPANIES CAN THINK ABOUT EMPLOYABILITY
      • Encourage people's participation on par with each other.
      • Work towards closing the employment gap.
      • Do not discriminate anybody based on their disabilities.
      • Support independent working conditions.
      • Work towards enhancing vocational and personal skills.
      • WHAT THE MANAGERS CAN DO…
      • Support people morally and emotionally.
      • Monitor people's work in a particularly positive way, and give them positive feedback on their work or give them information that they need to do their work better.
      • Recognize people for good performance, particularly in public settings.
      • Consult with people on the team - ask for their views, respect their opinions, and act on their needs and their wishes to the extent that it's possible.
      • Collaborate - roll up their sleeves and actually spend time collaborating with somebody on the work given.
    10. Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. Dale Carnegie
    11. Thank you. Always, be like the coffee bean!
