    This is awesome.

We really want slideshare to work in second life ... if anyone has ideas about how to make that happen, hit me up. You can send me a private msg from my profile.

This is as naked as you get in Kaneva. As you can see, I’ve made some progress with customizing the bathtub and with hanging a picture.

I came back home with a bathtub, a ceiling fan and a TV. Plopped the stuff on the floor from the inventory. Moving things around isn’t particularly easy -- instead of dragging/dropping, you need to push the direction arrows on a pop-up window. You also need to remember to click the green check mark or whatever you’ve been doing will be lost. This is probably the most annoying interface element of the game.

This is the electronics store in the mall where you buy TVs and washers. You can’t buy these goodies on the shelf, but if you look closely, you’ll see a box with Spore, the Will Wright’s upcoming evolution game. There are also boxes of Wiis and Xboxes that you can’t buy.

Now back to the mall for some frames. In another strange navigation twist, you can’t teleport directly to the store (or, rather, I couldn’t figure out how), so I had to go to the main spawn area and than walk around looking for the frame shop. No meaningful signage to help you negotiate the space, either.

As I said earlier, you can’t just buy something by clicking on it. Instead, you need to approach the automatic clerk, press TAB to summon a list of available merchandise. After that, the acquisition process is pretty straightforward, although the item descriptions are somewhat cryptic (what’s 'converted to 261'?)

But before that, I tried to change the wallpaper on the walls. Replaced the default texture with an AdverLab screengrab; didn’t come out too well.

You can’t just slap your photo on the wall, you need to buy some frames first. Back to the mall.

Before you begin customizing your digs, you’ll need to upload some 'media' through the website. Besides the apartment, every member gets a profile page, too, for a nice combination of 3D and 2D personal spaces.

Every account comes with a default empty apartment. Everyone’s got the same view, an artificial one since there’s no 'outside'.

Another apartment. More pictures, and a TV with a playlist that’s now empty, although apparently it plays videos. The furniture and the fireplace and the lamps you can buy in the mall.
