ASHFORD CRJ 301 Week 2

Inchoate Offenses. Provide your opinion of whether or not criminal liability and
punishment for inchoate offenses are “fair” or not. How do the concepts
of actusreus and mensrea fit with inchoate offenses? Should someone charged
with an inchoate offense suffer the same punishment as the primary actors of the
crime? Should people be criminally convicted for the crime of conspiracy where
no underlying crime actually occurs? Your initial post should be at least 250

ASHFORD CRJ 301 Week 3

Preventing Juvenile Crime. Provide your opinion of the two best ways to
prevent juvenile crime. You can use the article, A National Strategy for Juvenile
Delinquency Prevention, and other scholarly sources to support your opinions.
Provide both supportive and contradictory information available in the effort to
prevent juvenile crime. Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length.
Support your claims with examples from required material(s) and/or other
scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of
your classmates’ posts by Day 7.

Theories of Juvenile Crime. Many theories have been advanced to explain the
causes of juvenile crime. Choose the theory that you think best explains the
causes of juvenile crime and point out both the strengths and weaknesses of the
theory selected. You can choose from the following theories of the causes of
juvenile crime: rational behavior theories, determinism, and integrated theories.
You are encouraged to utilize outside, scholarly research to support your choice,
or even find another theory that you think best explains the causes of juvenile

Juvenile Probation. Analyze both the arguments for and against juvenile
probation. When should parole or probation be available to a juvenile offender
and when should it not? What new policies could be adopted to help ensure that
juvenile probation or parole are successful? Your initial post should be at least

and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at

Juvenile Trials. Compare and contrast the purposes and outcomes of a juvenile
trial vs. an adult criminal trial. Explain the ways in which justice is sought in both,
and provide your personal opinion of whether or not the juvenile trial and
disposition system are the best way to handle juvenile offenders from both a
social and criminal justice perspective. Your initial post should be at least 250

States and provide your opinion of the most effective means of combating gang
