The figures shown are in €000 per annum. The guide provides an indication against each listed job, of how little, how much and the average we have seen being paid to such individuals coming onto our database within the preceding 6 months. It is not a formal survey and does not detail variances between sectors, company size or industry. These variances can be inferred from salary spreads e.g. in general terms an MIS manager in a very small company may be earning towards the lower end of the scale whereas the same role in a huge multinational corporation may attract much more in the way of salaries and benefits. The titles would be the same. 2

  • Benefits Incorporating SkillsGroup The provision of a comprehensive benefits package to staff has become almost standard, in all industries and is a means of attracting and retaining top talent. Benefits range from region to region and from industry to industry ranging from the following: • full medical cover, (BUPA or VHI)* • participation in a defined contribution pension scheme, (up to 15% of gross annual salary)* • Life Assurance (4 times annual salary) and in many cases permanent health insurance* * Benefits are usually offered after the 6-month probationary period and backdated to start date. In addition to these standard benefits, employers are increasingly seeking ways to reward high performance with attractive bonus schemes, which can range from 10% of salary to in some cases 100% of salary. Educational assistance programmes exist in virtually all companies but there are many diverse ways in which this can feature, from fully subsidising an educational programme to refunding fees on successful completion of exams. Some companies allow a certain period for their employees to participate in online courses. Cars and car allowances continue to be included as part of the overall benefits package for travel related roles and manager level employees upward. Car schemes vary with companies offering full/part payment, cash alternatives, or a leasing allowance. Companies also offering some or all of the following: Insurance, Road Tax, Service, Repairs, All Petrol, Petrol Business Use. THE PERKS • Club Subscriptions • Luncheon Vouchers • Subsidised Restaurant • Car Parking • Clothing Allowance • Shopping Vouchers • Subsidised/Interest free loans • Holiday Fund • Medical Checks/Screening • Onsite medical facilities • Education Subsidies • Long Term Service Awards • Sports and Social Club/facilities • Crèche • Relocation Expenses (becoming more popular with language related roles) • Expenses PROFIT SHARING / STOCK OPTIONS There has been a great deal of press covering the subject of stock options, share participation schemes and equity arrangements as a method of attracting and retaining staff. These vary enormously depending on the company and industry sector. An Employer with an approved profit sharing scheme may give shares to the value of €12,700 each year to an employee tax-free. The company receives a tax deduction for the cost of providing the shares for the running of the Scheme. The employees receive favourable income tax treatment provided the shares are held for 3 years. Disposal of the shares is subject to Capital Gains Tax in the normal way. 27
