During the mid 20th century SGS began to diversify into inspection, testing and verification services across a variety of sectors including industrial, minerals, oil, gas, and chemicals.
In 1981, SGS was listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange
In 2000, SGS adopted the current structure of 10 businesses and 10 regions to support services across 13 industries.
In 2003, all activities of the company were brought back under a single umbrella brand of SGS to better position its brand, across businesses and geographies.
Since then, the company has intensified its presence and strengthened its expertise to serve the full value chain across all industries completing more than 150 acquisitions since 2000.
