Favourablegeographic position, significant industrial, resource and human potential,well-developed infrastructure, social and cultural sphere provide strongbackground for its further dynamic development. Nowadays it is an industrial and agricultural region, rich in naturalresources (wood, water, deposits of amber, basalts, granites, tuffs, peat,feedstock for construction materials and glassware) and inhabited byhard-working and friendly people. With a view to efficient use of available resources and maintaininghigh profitability of production the purposeful work on refocusingeconomy into investment and innovative development model is beingconducted. Increase of investments inflow is a priority area for regionalauthorities. At this point, systematic measures for promoting favourableinvestment climate, encouraging and facilitating the investors’ activityin the territory of the region are being implemented.   • 4. Rivne Region is located in the north-west of Ukraine and enjoys favorable GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONgeographic position for servicing the markets of the European Union,Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Region is situated at the crossroads ofinternational motorways and railways connecting Europe with Asia andthe Baltic Sea with the Black Sea. The distance to the EU border is just100 km (1.5 hours drive) and 250 km (3 hours drive) to Kyiv, the capitalof Ukraine. During evaluation in 2007, the specialists of the FinancialTimes admitted that Rivne region is the lowest cost location for businessin Europe located in its very heart. 4
