    • Study your differences.
    • Learn about other cultures.
    • Encourage employees to discuss their culture’s customs.
    • Avoid being judgmental.

    • Create a formal forum to teach employees about the customs of all cultures represented in the firm.
    • Train employees to overcome ethnocentric stereotyping.
    • Stamp out negative labels.
  • 6. 2.Improve oral & written communication

    • Define the terms people need to know on the job.
    • Emphasize major points with repetition and recap.
    • Use familiar words.
    • Be concise.
    • Don’t cover too much information at one time.

    • Adjust your message to employees’ education level.
    • Be specific and explicit.
    • Use written summaries and visual aids.
    • Demonstrate and encourage.
    • Reduce language barriers.

    • Research the non-verbal reactions of other cultures.
    • Be alert to facial expressions.
    • Probe for comprehension.
    • Encourage employees.
    • Observe how employees use the information you’ve provided, and review any misunderstood points.

    • Discuss a person’s behaviors and the situation.
    • Be supportive and reassure individuals that their skills and contributions are important.
