  • Very Quick story - I wonder if she ever met Queen Cartimunda of the Brigante. She might have not bothered going north after Suetonius defeated her army. Because Cartimunda had ruled for many years and was loyal to Rome. I bet Boudicca gave the old Brigante Queen a scare.

  2. 2. East Anglia <ul><li>Agreement between the Iceni and the Romans. The Romans let them rule over their own lands. In return, they gave the Romans money and did not cause any trouble. </li></ul><ul><li>-Nero was the emperor at this time. </li></ul>
  3. 3. - 48- 49 AD: The king of the Iceni, Prasutagus, married Boudicca. -They had two daughters.
  4. 4. -AD 60- Prasutagus dies. -Half of the king’s will to the Romans. -Romans interpreted it as a sumission to the Roman state. -Boudicca protests. -Daughters raped and Boudicca flogged by the Romans.
  5. 5. Queen Boudicca raised the Iceni and the Trinnivantes tribe in revolt against Romans.
  6. 6. She formed an army of over 100.000 warriors: Men and women.
  7. 7. -Naked + swirly patterns on their skins with blue body paint called woad . -Swords, spears, shields and helmets.
  8. 8. Three cities were burnt: <ul><li>Camulodunum (Colchester) </li></ul><ul><li>Londinium (London) </li></ul>-Verulamium (Saint Albaus)
  9. 9. Final Battle: -Boudicca confronts Suetonius. -Celts are defeated. -Boudicca scapes.
