  3. 3. WHAT IS BULLYING?
  4. 4. BULLYING Behavior that is intentional, hurtful and repeated by one or more persons. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
  5. 5. BULLYING INCLUDES Actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.
  6. 6. DID YOU KNOW The word “BULLY” use to mean the total opposite of what it means now. Five hundred years ago, it meant friend or family member.
  7. 7. TWO TYPES OF BULLYING • DIRECT BULLYING • INDIRECT BULLYING
  8. 8. DIRECT BULLYING Physical – hitting, kicking, pushing, stealing, hiding or ruining someone’s things. Verbal – Name Calling, Teasing, Insulting, Threats
  9. 9. INDIRECT BULLYING When stories or rumors about A person are spread around and excluding others from the group.
  10. 10. CYBER BULLYING Type of bullying that happens online or through text messages or emails

  12. 12. COVERT BULLYING It is designed to harm someone's social reputation and/or cause humiliation.
  13. 13. 3 FORMS •Indirect aggression •Relational aggression •Social aggression
  14. 14. Characteristics of bully • Show Little Concern For The Feelings Of Others • Often Physically Strong • Have Trouble Following Rules. • May Or May Not Be Popular With Other Children Around Their Same Age.
  15. 15. Characteristics of bully • Have More Positive Attitudes Toward Violence Than Peers • Have Quick Tempers, And Are Easily Frustrated • Be Good At Talking Themselves Out Of Situations

  19. 19. PROVOCATIVE VICTIM • Be Hyperactive , Restless , Have Difficulty Concentrating • Hot Tempered •Attempt To Fight Back When They Feel Insulted Or Attacked
  20. 20. EFFECTS OF BULLYING •Unwilling to go to school • Unwilling to discuss his/her school life •School work and academic results are worse than before. •Coming home with wounds and torn clothes
  21. 21. EFFECTS OF BULLYING • Nightmares often locks him/herself in the bedroom for A long time • Becomes nervous when another child comes near. • Becoming increasingly bad-tempered
  22. 22. KIDS WHO SEE BULLYING •They may not know what to do. •They may feel depressed or worried •May be absent from school because they don’t feel safe •They may join or stay silent so they wont get bullied
  23. 23. KIDS WHO ARE BULLIED CAN FEEL LIKE • Different • Unpopular • Alone • Sad • Lonely , nervous or sick
  24. 24. WHY DO OTHERS LET IT HAPPEN? • The bully is someone others look up to and want to hang out with. • They want to “side” with the bully because it makes them feel strong. • They’re entertained by the bullying.
  25. 25. WHY DO OTHERS LET IT HAPPEN? •They don’t think speaking up will help. •They’re afraid that if they say something, the bully will turn on them.
  26. 26. BULLYING IS A BIG DEAL •Know what kind of bully you are dealing with •Report all bullying to an authority figure. •Help others •Learn self defense.

Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. 160,000 kids stay home from school every day due to fear of bullying 1 Out 10 Students Drop Out Of School Because Of Repeated Bullying At least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying 282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month

  33. 33. Bullying is not A joke it’s A crime CONCLUSION Bulling affects everyone not just the victims of bulling but, the bully’s and everyone surrounding them. Bulling has been an exceeding issue over the years , it is about time to make it stop !
