  • 3. The great thing about external study is that you can learn whenever it’s most convenient for you, from wherever you happen to be.
  • 4. The not so great thing about external study
  • 5. The not so great thing about external study is that cyberspace can sometimes feel pretty lonely.

  • 9. Online conversations aren’t just an opportunity to ask study-related questions. They’re an opportunity to help each other out and bond over your study successes. But often people hold back because they’re nervous about putting themselves out there and starting a conversation with someone new.
  • 10. But what if you take on a different persona?
  • 11. But what if you take on a different persona? Cyberspace is a great environment to re-invent yourself and be bolder than you’d possibly be in person. One great way to go about it is to take guidance from a person you admire and use their strengths to inspire your online personality.
  • 12. And who better to learn from…
  • 13. And who better to learn from… Than everybody’s oldest “Friends”.
  • 14. Joey We encourage the use of Joey’s go-to line “How you doin” to start great conversations about study and the general balancing act of student life. Let Joey inspire you to kick things off in the social forums of your courses.
  • 15. Monica Adopt the role of mother hen and introduce people. Find out what everyone has in common (kids, old high schools, home towns) and use it to bring new people into the conversation. Social media is a great place to find like-minded study friends!
  • 16. Ross Start intelligent conversations and get people engaged. Articles, news stories and tv shows that relate to your studies are always a good starting point. Course forums are the best place to unleash your inner Ross.
  • 17. Rachel Be open about your experiences and feelings toward study. Did you start your career in a totally different field or travel somewhere exotic before hitting the books? Share your story with other students by using #usq on your social media posts.
  • 18. Chandler Kick things off on a light- hearted note. A video, meme or even a good Gif never go astray when exam and assessment stress has got everyone feeling a little on-edge. Facebook and Instagram are great places to show your humorous side.
  • 19. Phoebe You could prepare a musical snack for your fellow students or show them your other talents and quirks. Many a friendship has been formed over a unique shared interest. Use Instagram to show the other sides to your personality.
  • 20. No matter which persona you decide to adopt relax and have fun with it.
