  • Whatever happened to advertising?
  • It’s being redefined virtually every single day.
  • Whatever you do online, can and will be seen all around the world.
  • It’s no longer about creating good advertising ideas, but good ideas you can advertise.
  • The one biggest change is SOCIAL MEDIA.
  • What is social media?
  • “Real people having real conversations about real objects and ideas.”
  • YOUR BRAND ...is no longer what you say it is
  • YOUR BRAND ...is no longer what you say it is ...it’s what THEY say it is.
  • The basic truths.
  • #1 People are constantly being bombarded by messages. ...and they’re getting better at tuning them out.
  • #2 People prefer listening to people they know and like. ...they’re very good at recognizing marketing messages.
  • #3 Stories travel across all media platforms ...we’re constantly on the move. Are your touch points easy for them to access?
  • #4 You need to be available in REAL TIME ...that’s real live experiences at the speed of NOW.
  • #5 You need to be always ON! ...you can’t just launch and leave.
  • #6 There’s no need to shout! ...have a conversation instead.
  • #7 No difference between the physical and virtual world ...to the consumer, it’s just one world.
  • #8 Engage the audience ...plan for participation from the beginning.
  • #9 Stay curious ...what new things can be mashed together to create new ideas?
  • Social media is nice to have.
  • MUST HAVE Social media is nice to have.
  • Things to keep in mind.
  • #1 Keep momentum Don’t initiate only when you want something from your audience.
  • #2 Be creative Don’t copy just for the sake of doing something.
  • #3 Be useful Don’t assume you know what people want or need.
  • #4 Create experiences Don’t just force advertising slogans.
  • #5 Create meaning Don’t just replay mindless messages.
