History of Ceramic Fiber In 1942, Charles McMullen, a scientist at Carborundum, discovered a method for attenuating molten droplets of alumina-silica into ceramic fibers. 1940's 1950's RCF was then developed into a variety of product forms. 1960's Product forms and applications available in a variety of industries. 1990's In 1998 the revolutionary Isofrax ® Thermal Insulation soluble fiber was introduced.
