Creating a Personal Account <ul><li>If you want this to be private choose an account name or username that is not like your name in real life </li></ul><ul><li>The FULL NAME section may be left blank or filled in with a permutation of the username. </li></ul><ul><li>Use a different password than your Kerberos password. </li></ul><ul><li>Create or use a personal email address to use as the contact for the account (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, comcast, etc.) </li></ul>

Creating a Professional Account <ul><li>You want people to be able to find you, so choose a username that is like your real name </li></ul><ul><li>Fill in the FULL NAME section with your real name </li></ul><ul><li>Use a new password, not the one used for your professional accounts </li></ul><ul><li>(In a later step, you may link the username to your web page) </li></ul><ul><li>Use your professional email address as the contact for the account </li></ul>

Creating a Group or Project Account <ul><li>Is the group or project public or private? </li></ul><ul><li>Follow the guidelines for personal accounts if private, for professional accounts if public, except … </li></ul><ul><li>… create a group email account as the contact for the account </li></ul>

Creating Your Account <ul><li>Remember to check the email account for a message from del.icio.us to complete the activation of your account. </li></ul><ul><li>Notice the use of a captcha* as an anti-spam device. This means deli.icio.us is not accessible to persons with some visual disabilities. </li></ul><ul><li>* CAPTCHA = Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart </li></ul>
