  • 6. GODAVARI RIVER Inter State River, Largest in South India and Second Largest in India, rises in Sahyadri Hill ranges at Triambakeshwar in Nasik, about 3,500 ft above MSL. Total length of the river 1,465 kms of which 770 kms in AP.
  • 7.  Godavari Water Dispute Tribunal was set up on 10.04.1969 and award was given on 07.07.1980. AP can use all balance waters after allowing the upper states to use their specific allocations. Water allocated to AP at 75% dependability 1480 TMC
  • 8.  Godavari basin consists of 12 sub-basis G1 – G12. Seven sub-basins viz., G4, G5, G7, G8, G9, G10 and G12 are partly in AP but G6 is totally in AP. Indiravathi (G11) is totally out side AP. Upper Godavari (G1), Pravara (G2), and Purna (G3) are in Maharastra.

  • 10.  Nevertheless, the Telangana forms part of the catchment areas of Major Rivers of the State, Irrigated Area is not commensurately developed. PRANAHITA RIVER Water Available to AP :350 TMC Requirement for existing, ongoing and contemplated projects : 45 TMC Net available : 305 TMC Proposed Diversion : 160 TMC Government decided to divert 160 TMC to the scheme and entrusted preparation of DPR to M/s WAPCOS. M/s WAPCOS submitted preliminery report to Government.
  • 26.  During their presentation in the Secretariat, their doubts about availability of water in Pranahita were clarified. M/s WAPCOs are expected to submit DPR in March 2007.

  • 39. Power utilisation for 5 months : 7200 mu.Cost of Power for 5 months : 7200 x 1.50 = Rs. 10800 Mill. Or Rs. 1080 Cr.BALANCE 7 MONTHS Power sold @ Rs. 4.00 per unit - yields revenue of Rs. 4032 Cr. Rs. (4032-1512) Cr. Net Revenue = Rs. 2520 Cr.Hence Power cost of the scheme is replenished with a surplus of Rs. 1440 Cr per annum. i.e. Rs. (2520 – 1080) Cr.
