  • Grauman's Chinese Theatre - do not have much relationship to chinese. Only apply Oriental architecture style, but not purely chinese style.

    Los Angeles, CA: Grauman's Chinese Theater Country: United States of America State: California City: Los Angeles Location: Hollywood, 6925 Hollywood Boulevard - Cinema, built 1927 as "Grauman's Chinese Theater" for Sid Grauman. Opened May 1927. 1973 bought by Ted Mann and incorporated int the Mann's Theater chain. Renamed "Mann's Chinese Theater". On 9 Nov 2001 re-renamed "Grauman's Chinese Theater". The "Forecourt of the Stars" features foot prints, hand prints and signatures of many Hollywood movie stars.

    • Design a "palace type theatre" of Chinese design.

    • A mixture of oriental style building
    • Open space (forecourt) as public attraction
    • ‘ Chinese style’:
      • stone chinese dragon carving
      • 1 pair of Authentic Chinese Ming Heavens dogs guard
      • silhouettes of tiny dragons up and down the sides of the copper roof
      • intend to resemble a giant, red Chinese pagoda

  • 5. This unique theatre is one of the outstanding landmarks of Hollywood Boulevard, is the scene of 'supercolossal' premieres.

    • concrete blocks set in the forecourt, with footprint and handprint from popular celebrities since 1920.

    • the idea of stamping handprint and footprint was discovered accidentally during the construction work.
