  • 2. INSPIRE Data Providers
      • INSPIRE Obligations:
          • Applies to data “published” externally today and made available for others to reuse
          • Raster maps e.g. PDF, TIFF etc not in scope (except coverage) type e.g. DTM and imagery)
          • NOT obliged to collect new data
          • Principle is “if you collect/publish data today – these are the specifications you should use, and these are the Regulations you must use”
          • Will be much more formal and inter dependent than anything we have seen in the spatial industry before (web services)
      • UK Location Strategy:
          • Know what data we have – encouraged to publish data outside scope of INSPIRE, but no obligation (INSPIRE +)

      • Initial focus of Data Providers Early Adopters Programme will be on:

          • Publishing Discovery Metadata for information resources
          • Establishing View Services (WMS) for published datasets and data series

Publish discovery metadata for service. 7 December 2010 Create and publish discovery metadata for datasets. 6 5 4 1 July 2010 Confirm funding is in place for any system changes needed. June 2010 Decide publishing channel - own or third party. Consider using shared services and offering publishing as a service to others. May 2010 Confirm INSPIRE obligations.
