BPCodeofConduct8WhatourCodeisallaboutOurCodegivesustheguidanceandsupportweneedtoconductourbusinessethicallyandtocomplywiththelaw.Thesetwothingsarevitaltooursuccess.OurCoderepresentsourcommitmenttodotherightthing,includingrespectingtherightsofothers.BybeingpartofBPyouareagreeingtoupholdthiscommitment.Ifyoudonot,youcouldputyourself,yourcolleaguesandBPatrisk.Putsimply,failuretofollowthisCodeismisconduct,whichcouldresultindisciplinaryactionandevendismissal.NopartofourCodecanbewaivedwithoutpriorapprovalwhichreflectsourwholeheartedcommitmenttoit.ThiswillbecoordinatedbytheGroupEthics&ComplianceOfficer,whowillobtainapprovalsandmakesureallappropriatereportsandrepresentationsaremade.Thisincludesthoserequiredbylaw.Waiverswillonlybegrantedinexceptionalcircumstances.WhomustfollowourCode?Theshortanswertothisiseveryone.ThelongeransweriseveryemployeeandofficerineveryBPwhollyownedentity,andinjointventures(JVs)totheextentpossibleandreasonablegivenBP’slevelofparticipation.InsituationswhereBPdoesnothaveoverallcontrolofaJV,wewilldoeverythingwereasonablycantomakesureJVsandJVpartnersfollowsimilarprinciples.WealsoseektoworkwiththirdpartieswhooperateunderprinciplesthataresimilartothisCode.ThisincludesmakingacontractualcommitmentwhereitisfeasibletocomplywiththeapplicablelawsandworkinlinewithourCode.WeexpectallourcontractorsandtheiremployeestoactinawaythatisconsistentwithourCode,andfollowitsprinciples.Wewillconsiderterminatingcontractswherewebelievetheyhavenotmetourstandardsortheircontractualobligations.

BPCodeofConduct22Protectinghealth,safety,securityandtheenvironmentWeallshareresponsibilityforprotectingpeople’shealth,safety,securityandtheenvironment(HSSE).ThisincludeseveryoneatBPandeveryonetouchedbyouractivities.Thisisessentialtorespectingtheirrightsandtooursuccess.Weworkhardtoimproveourimpactontheenvironmentandhealthby:•Reducingwaste,emissionsanddischarges.•Usingenergyefficiently.•Reducingworkplaceexposuretohealthrisks.•Producingsafe,high-qualityproducts.WealsosetmeasurableHSSEperformancetargetsinourbusinessplans,whichweareallcommittedtomeeting.Personalandprocesssafetyisaboutmorethanfollowingrules.Weallneedtobealerttosafetyrisksaswegoaboutourjobs.Nothingissoimportantthatwecannottakethetimetodoitsafely.
