HP0-M57: HP Project and Portfolio Management Center 9.x Software Exam Preparation Guide / November 2011 Alternative Training Path for HP Employees and Partners For selected areas, the HP Software Field Enablement team develops series 300 Essentials-type foundational trainings. These classes are delivered in various formats and can be available as scheduled Virtual ILTs and/or Web-Based Trainings (online or self-paced). The Field Enablement classes are tailored for a slightly more technical audience, with more information on install and support/troubleshooting procedures, but are substantially (not exactly, though) equivalent to the public supporting ILTs. Series 300 courses might also include solution-based modules and topics on positioning and value realization. Field Enablement classes are currently delivered for free or on a T&A reimbursement policy. They are restricted to an HP Employees and Partners audience. More information on alternative courses can be found in The Learning Center. Obtain hands-on experience All HP exams are designed for management software professionals with on-the-job experience. This exam requires such experience—preferably, ranging from three to six months in enterprise IT or PMO environments supported by the HP Project and Portfolio Management v9.x Software. The ILTs might introduce you to some of these problems, as they encompass lab-based activities, accounting for up to 50% of the class time, but the more experience you have deploying, configuring and managing HP PPM in a variety of environments, the more successful you will be. The Software Field Enablement team might be able to offer to HP Employees and Partners for some target solutions, demo environments populated by sample data, demo scenarios and narratives, sandboxes and Lab activities to enable further practice with the exam topics. Additional exam study material In addition to the recommended training, a reference list is provided at the end of this guide to assist in completing your preparation to the exam. The list encompasses pointers to additional documents, web pages and product manual sections discussing exam topics not explicitly dealt with in the recommended training. It is advisable that you complement the knowledge and skills learned in the recommended training and provided references by consulting the product manuals, completing the proposed tutorials, when offered, and optionally attending additional classes. Purchase self-study materials For recommended public ILTs, materials consist of the Learner’s Guide provided to the ILT participants, which students can read and study at their own pace. Note that these materials were designed for use in a participative ILT. Therefore, students will see discussion questions and activities, which they can use to practice and assess their progress. Answers are provided in an appendix at the end of the guide. For some courses, a Lab Guide might also be available. Study Guides and Lab Guides (when available) are only provided to the public ILT(s) training participants. Study guides and Lab Guides are considered intellectual property of HP Software Education Services and CANNOT be purchased in either printed or electronic format outside the training registration and participation process. Finally, remember that simply reading these materials will not give you the hands-on experience provided by lab activities in the ILT. The exam assumes that you have experience working with HP products. Refer to additional materials

HP0-M57: HP Project and Portfolio Management Center 9.x Software Exam Preparation Guide / November 2011 Tips for taking HP exams Rather than emphasize simple memorization, HP exams attempt to assess whether you have the knowledge and skills that a system availability and performance engineer requires on the job. Therefore, some questions feature exhibits or scenarios. As you see, you will have an average of about ninety seconds per question. Before you do answer a question, take the time to read the question and all of the options carefully. If the question indicates that it features an exhibit, study the exhibit and reread the question. Make sure to select the answer that correctly responds to the question that is asked—not simply an answer that includes some correct information. If allowed by the system, you might want to answer the questions you are sure about first, and then then move back to the others. If the question asks for more than one answer, remember to select each correct answer. You do not receive partial credit for a partially correct answer.
