    1.   Podcasts and Vodcasts Ahmed Al-Moqbali Issa Al-Sumri
    2.   What is Podcasting?
      •
      • The term “podcasting” is a combination of two words: iPod and broadcasting. It refers to the automatic downloading of MP3 audio files to a computer or MP3 player in a data structure called RSS 2.0 envelope (or “feed”).
      • RSS stands for  Real Simple Syndication, and is an agreed specification of XML tags used to define objects which can be subscribed to through a “RSS news reader.”
      •
      • Podcasting is an exciting new audio medium that gives educators and students the freedom to listen to the audio program of their choice at the time of their choice. Podcasting is a new word created by joining two words and their meanings – iPod and Broadcasting
    3. The difference between a radio broadcast and a podcast
      •
      • The difference between a radio broadcast and a podcast is that the radio broadcast requires a studio and a transmitter that sends out radio signals within a given area. That signal can be received by anyone who happens to be in the area with a radio tuned to the appropriate frequency. Podcasts, on the other hand, are audio programs that are stored as digital files on the Internet. These files can be downloaded from an Internet connection anywhere in the world.
    4. What is Vodcasting?
      • vodcast is a term used for the online delivery of video in demand video clip content via atom or RSS enclosures. The term is an evolution specialized for video, coming from the generally audio-based podcast and referring to the distribution of video where the RSS feed is used as a non-linear TV channel to which consumers can subscribe using a PC, TV, set-top box, media center or mobile multimedia device.
    5. Podcasts vs. Vodcasts
      •
      • VODcasting (also known as “vlogging”) is the same thing as Podcasting except that it uses video content rather than audio, and the content is played on a laptop or a newer iPod with video capabilities.
    6. The Pod/VODcasting Process
        • Create or capture and edit the content.
        • Publish content to a web site or blog.
        • Subscribe to the content using an “RSS News Reader”.
        • Download the content into content management software (CMS).
        • Play content on download device or synchronize CMS with portable media player and play.

    9.   MP3 Players
      •
      • The term “Podcast” is somewhat misleading because it implies that an iPod is required to podcast. Actually, podcasts can be used with a variety of digital audio formats and played on almost any MP3, or later, player or portable digital audio device, as well as desktop or laptop computers.
