• 1. Facebook By: Tyler Kozeniewski
 • 2. Overview of Facebook

Facebook is a social networking site that allows the user to communicate with his/her friends and other people. It allows the user to share photos/videos with his/her friends. It is one of the most upcoming websites. Almost everybody is starting to get a Facebook, whether it be a company or a person.

 • 3. History and Creator of Facebook

Facebook was thought of in 2003 by a Harvard drop out but was never published until February of 2004. The creator of Facebook is Mark Zuckerburg who thought of it his freshmen year in college. He made it so he could connect with his friends but then other colleges started to use it. He then decided to drop out and launch it in 2004. Facebook was made for people to connect with other people and communicate.

 • 4. Purpose of Facebook

The purpose of Facebook is to communicate and share photos/videos with friends. It is a social media website. It allows the user to connect with his/her friends whenever. It also allows people to communicate with anybody across the world for free. The site allows the user to connect with old friends that he/she has lost contact with. It is a lot easier to connect with people via Facebook.

 • 5. Content that Makes the Site

The content that makes the site comes from the user. Some of the content are photos and videos. These are posted by the user and all his/her friends can see what he/she post. Another thing that makes the website is a status. This allows people to see what you are up too or what you are doing. A new feature that contributes to the content is called "Check In" this feature allows you to put exactly where you are and everyone can see that. It will put the exact address. This is the content that makes Facebook. If it was not from the user than Facebook would not be in existences.

 • 6. Uses For this Tool (School, Business,Home)

The use for this tool at school is the school can have a page and post important events or things that happen. It can act as a reminder and let people get up to date news from the school. The school mostly post big events coming up and scores to athletic games.

The use for this tool in Business is advertisement. The company can advertise things on the page and allow anyone in the world to see it. Also it allows people to know what's going on with the company and the latest news. Facebook can help a company a good amount. Facebook is great for Business companies and it gets the companies name out there.

 • 7. Continued

The use for Facebook at home is to connect with friends. It is a great tool to catch up with old friends and see what they are up too. It is also used at home by sending out invitations to parties and big events. It is a lot easier than emailing and calling people about parties coming up. Facebook you can just post the date, time, and where and people can click if they are attending or not. These are some of the ways Facebook is used at home.

 • 8. How Facebook is a Web 2.0 tool

It is a web 2.0 because the user can commuicate, share, and secure information. This is a the definition of a Web 2.0 tool. Facebook would be a great definition for Web 2.0 because it is exactly that.

 • 9. Similar Sites

Some sites that are similar are Twitter, Myspace, Xanga, and Linkedin. These sites have similar aspects to Facebook.

 • 10. Researchers Say About Facebook

Most all researches say Facebook is a great tool. They talk about how it has made a great impact on the world. It's one of the best sites out there. They talk about how easy it is to use. There is not too much negative feed about the site. The only negative that I saw was the privacy. The article just said that Facebook should make everyone's page private. The only pages that should be public are celebrities and businesses. This video below talks about some negative aspects of Facebook.

 • 11. Positive and Negative about Facebook

The positive feed is it allows people to catch up and communicate with people that they haven't talked to in a while. Also positive is posting photos/videos so friends can see what you have been doing. These are some of the positive tools but there is always negative things.

Negatives things are posting inappropriate statuses, photos, and videos. These things can get people in trouble. Also starting fights on school events. This leads to trouble with the school. These are some of the negative sides of Facebook.
