    2. What is an Interactive Whiteboard
      • Computer Input System
      • IWBs include SmartBoards, Promethean ActivBoards, Mimio and eBeam systems, Panavision, Interwrite, and a host of others
      • Allows you to control your computer in front of a group
    3. Board vs. Mimio System
      • Effectively Identical with practice
      • Boards can be manipulated with fingers, multiple pens, and other objects
      • Mimio system requires the specialized transmitter pen
      • Mimio attaches to existing whiteboard
    4. Software Package
      • Most IWBs come with a fairly robust software package
      • Helps create Interactive Presentations
      • Some include licensing for every computer in the building…which is great for students creating presentations
    5. Criticism
      • Teacher Directed Model
      • Lack of or Ineffective Use
      • Cost vs. Impact
    6. Marzano Support
      • From CUE 2009:
        • 17% gain in classrooms employing IWBs and “voting technology”
        • 20% gain if teacher had used IWB for 20-30 months
        • 29% gain from experienced teacher using IWB for 2 years, 75% of the time in class, with training
