  • Let me start by giving you quick snapshot of my company, purely for context. Front-row seat for telecom’s white-knuckle roller-coaster ride Founded amid late-90s boom, by the start of the Internet revolution and the promises of the bandwidth demand it would bring, We grew quickly through acquisitions, which as you all know, brings along it’s own challenges These acquisitions, however, gave us reach and capacity that was ahead of its time, I’ll obviously get into the time of restructuring and emergence in more detail, but at a high level, the debt that accompanied the construction of this asset was too much to bear as demand did not meet expectations But, the good news with restructuring is that the majority of your debt goes away, and in our case, I fought very hard to keep this asset intact…
  • Let me first ground you in who we are and what our capabilities are.. Customer Satisfaction scores show 98 percent are “satisfied,” and three quarters are “very satisfied” These same surveys show that our people continue to be a major reason customers continue to buy from us. Traditionally, many thought of Global Crossing as a voice company, due to the North American acquisitions. Or as a pure wholesale provider because of our origin as a sub-sea cable and network provider. But the vision for this company has always been to provide IP services to global enterprises. To facilitate this, we built a core IP network with global reach – one that will likely never be duplicated in our lifetime. These assets are unique and give real differential advantage. We have maintained our core worldwide network assets through restructuring and transformation to allow us to maintain our vision and differentiation in the marketplace. These assets are very much intact today and we continue to build partnerships to further our reach to further realize our vision. These assets position us uniquely to service the requirements of businesses today; the advent of convergence in finally upon us and we are prepared…

  • Global Crossing’s IP VPN service is available in more than 600 cities in 60 countries on six continents giving customers extensive network coverage to help keep remote employees connected to the information required to successfully conduct business. We provide one of the highest performing and versatile IP VPN solutions currently in place that transports IP traffic over the company’s secure, privately owned and operated MPLS-based IP backbone. It offers true global reach, scalable connectivity, greater security, multiple access options, and flexible billing options that simplify the customer’s experience allowing them to focus on their core business objectives and not network management. The IP VPN solution is the network of choice for a fully managed Converged IP solution where data, voice, video and multimedia applications are supported over a single IP-based platform giving customers more network control while lowering their total cost of ownership. End-to-end network visibility to your premise with enhanced SLAs and robust diagnostic tools while simplifying network monitoring Removes the complexities of monitoring your network by collecting and filtering port and circuit information Global Crossing has operated a global MPLS-based IP VPN service since 2001 and is in more than 600 cities in close to 60 countries on six continents worldwide.

  • 1) LAN Emulation - Provide a single broadcast domain backbone such as would emulate a LAN 2) Ethernet Connectivity - The simplicity of ubiquitous circuit delivery via Ethernet is very attractive to network architects 3) Protocol Transparency - Support for legacy protocols such as IPX and SNA as opposed to IP only 4) Routing Privacy - Customer maintains control / visibility of routing protocols which remain “private” to that organization 5) Multicast Control - Customers may wish to use multicast independently of provider capabilities or services Bottom line: Overall Simplicity - From a customer perspective the solution can be kept very simple, sometimes even eliminating the requirement for routing configuration CoS -Per frame 802.1p compliance Typical Market Segments Financial Services Educational Institutions Insurance Healthcare/Pharmaceutical Airlines Government Retail Publishing Media and Entertainment Companies Internet Service Providers (ISPs) Application Service Providers (ASPs) Storage Area Network Providers (SAN)
  • This slide provides an overview of our overall managed service capabilities all of which are provided on a global, end-to-end service basis. Let’s look at each of these capabilities in greater detail…

  • Global Crossing Access Services Global Crossing Ethernet Services Introducing EtherExtend sm Flex Version 2009-02-03
  • What are EtherExtend Access Services?
    • EtherExtend Fixed
      • A new name for an existing product— Dedicated Ethernet access
      • Local access vendor provides the last mile Ethernet connection to you—Global Crossing’s end-user customer—and forwards your traffic over a physical connection to Global Crossing
    • EtherExtend Flex
      • A new name for a new product— Switched Ethernet Access
      • Local access vendor provides the last mile Ethernet connection to you, but rather than forwarding your traffic over a physical connection to Global Crossing, the traffic is forwarded via a logical connection as a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) over a physical NNI (Network to Network Interface)
      • Provides cost-competitive access for the following converged services:
        • (Managed) IP VPN Service
        • (Managed) Dedicated Internet Access Service (for Enterprises)
        • (Managed) IP Transit Services (for Carriers)
  • EtherExtend Fixed versus Flex
  • EtherExtend Flex | Benefits
