23 September 2010 In 2007 American society was tired of the global anti-war and anti-globalization campaigns of George W. Bush, so people had a great need for a new leader who would lead the country to Stability and Confidence in future. Obama made a strong perception as a Charismatic Leaderwhich could lead US to economic stability and prosperity.
23 September 2010 During the election Obama emphasized the issues of rapidly ending the Iraq War, increasing energy independence and providing universal health care. In his first few days after his inauguration in office Obama issued executive orders and presidential memoranda directing the U.S. military to develop plans to withdraw troops from Iraq. In his first year-plus in office, BarackObama has provided us with enough examples to summarize his leadership style.
Transformational:Charismatic Leadership 23 September 2010 “. . . We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America,”Obama said just before he was elected president in November 2008. Since his victory the president has made very clear his reverence for the idea of transformational leadership. He has identified “Transformative moments” that must be seized, leader who are able to bring about transformative change…
Transformational:Charismatic Leadership (Cont.) 23 September 2010 Transformational Leadership is often seen as synonymous with “Charismatic Leadership” The Transformational Leader gives the audience hope and makes it believe that, together, they can create a better future. To be sure, “Charisma” is not everything. A great leader needs many qualities: Character, Judgment, and Experience…
Change perspective 23 September 2010 Strategic Change – Strategic incrementalism His competitive strategy is to give the people hope. But that’s a paradox! You must be legitimated as a leader if anyone shall listen?? Strategy is a matter of intent. But to make this work Obama needs to live up to his promises. His plans are easy to understand (DeWitand Meyer) but on the other hand, it may not be realistic. It was necessary, but he has to find a balance between deliberate and emergent.
Change perspective (Cont.) 23 September 2010 Optimism Obamassoaring optimism flies in the face of all their political experience. Empty rhetorics Obamaism is a 4 ways of actualizing a latent ideological majority. As Hillary Clinton said; “We don’t need to be raising thefalse hopes of our country about what can be delivered”
Change perspective (Cont.) 23 September 2010 So what about Obamas change perspective? If we ask ourselves if it is an emergent or deliberate perspective it’s clearly deliberate. His plans are visionary and easy to understand for people, and as we said last lesson; A leader must be legitimated as a leader if anyone shall listen. At this point he had been really successful, to change revolutionary can be a good in problematic environment to.
Change perspective (Cont.) 23 September 2010 So what about Obamas change perspective? But on the other hand, a lot of things Obama has promised hasn’t changed as he wanted it to. He wanted to solve the climate crisis, the jobs, the financial crisis, education and Afghanistan. This ended up with the unemployment rates soared over 10 % though 8% ceiling was promised.
