  • 2. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • As a school we have been a PDS school in phases 1 and 2 and a PPS school prior to this. We are also a lead school for WPITT. We believe that involvement in ITT will make an impact on classroom practice and pupils learning. Believe, Achieve, Succeed

CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • As a part of partnership activities our main foci were: – Improving the training for host teachers – Developing training for Maths trainees and teachers using our AST’s in Maths – Attracting more teachers into Maths teacher training Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 4. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS Improving training for host teachers Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 5. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • We developed a 3 part training session for host teachers and mentors from within our own school and other schools within the area. Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 6. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • Session 1 – Values of teacher training – Qualities of a good teacher – QTS standards Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 7. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • Session 2 – Importance of feedback in particular, the use of language and constructive statements in developing high quality teachers Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 8. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • Session 3 – Feedback and target setting Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 9. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • We feel the training of host teachers is essential as a contribution to developing high quality teachers Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 10. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS Training to develop the use of group work to enhance Mathematics teaching Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 11. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • Our AST’s for Maths devised and developed 2 day training sessions aimed at undergraduates, ITT students, NQT’s and established teachers. Believe, Achieve, Succeed
  • 12. CATHEDRAL SCHOOL WAKEFIELD’S SCHOOL OF THE ARTS • Both sessions were well received and attended and via this initiative we feel that this has made a contribution to developing high quality Maths teachers. Believe, Achieve, Succeed
