• Good afternoon everyone! Today, we are going to present the topic which is “love”. We know that there are so many notions about love when you're a teenager, and it's no wonder teenagers are confused about love.
  • As a teenager you have a lot of different decisions to make about dating and love that have the ability to affect your adult life, such as being in a serious relationship, serial dating and whether to engage in sexual activity. So, today, we are going to present the theories of love in different disciplines and find out how teenagers and young adults think of love and deal with love. Hope to stimulate your thinking on the topic. Now, I ‘m pass on to (Jacko) to talk about the survey.
  • 2) Are you male or female?
  • Usually first love appear in adolescence stage 3 to 4 partners in common Don’t believe the eternity of love Majority of people think Love cannot without sex One lover is not enough Generally accept one night stand
  • Description of the news Usually first love appear in Secondary School Majority of people think Love cannot without sex One lover is not enough Generally accept one night stand
  • Just 15 years old Love + Sex
  • The pursuit of beauty The desire to have what one lacks and wants
  • ladder of your desires! After This Like the story told b4. Treasure.
  • Now, I am going to find out how teenagers and young adults think of love and deal with love through the culture in Hong Kong.
  • First of all, do you agree with this case? Love as instant noodles? Do you think it is ridiculous? But the fact is that a part of teenagers and young adults really thinking love is like that.
  • So, I would like to talk about the survey which is done by this organization, it is about how young people deal with love in different stages. They have interviewed the total of 509 post-80 generation. And the survey found that, the pursuit phase, love period and break up recovery period are about 44%, 43% and 37% respectively of the respondents are paying less than one month.
  • and nearly eighty percent also admitted to dating for three or more times. What caused the phenomenon? Actually, it is rooted in different reasons.
  • The first reason is affected by the foreign culture especially celebrities. Everywhere you turn, you hear young pop artists sing about love, you turn to see a magazine where the cover is probably about a celebrity teenage couple with the headline, “Is it love?” or something of that nature, but it’s actually not in good fun. The word “love” in today’s pop culture is destructive and unrealistic. Not only is it unrealistic, it’s being use incorrectly and it’s being geared towards teenagers, which, let’s face it, aren’t emotionally mature enough for love. So, music is a prime example of this particular topic. Let me give an example to you. The song is called “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. In this song, there’s a part of the song where Kate Perry says, “Let’s go all the way tonight. No regrets, just love.”That sounds an awful lot like sex to us! It’s kind of shallow and gives teenagers the idea that just emphasis on feeling rather than thinking, but this idea is definitely untrue. The mere fact that pop culture and media has such an affect on teenagers is a little bit scary. Therefore, the foreign culture is really affecting nowadays teenagers how to deal with love.
  • The second reason is affected by the negative evaluation. After all, the investigation only interviewed hundreds of objects, so it can not be compared with the accuracy of the census. So, the face of all the criticism in the society, we are not difficult to feel their sense of marginalization, discrimination and labeling of grievances. Moreover, this communication gap has deepened most of them that adults do not understand, do not understand their real needs. Paradoxically, they may unconsciously caused to the self-fulfilling prophecy of psychology. Beliefs or behavior of young people, whether correct or not, also are affected by the negative evaluation from the society. If society had the default their image, this will make the image often presented in an imaginary reality.
  • The third reason is they feel lost in the society. We are not difficult to find that the behavior of instant love of the youth is only feel lost in the society, cannot find their value and meaning. What they really need is “soulful connectedness”, “trusted” and “the joy of love and be loved”
  • Alright, the last reason is associated with instant shopping mode. Consumer culture has created a lifestyle to young people. Instant pleasure 、 emphasis on feeling rather than thinking 、 desires are endless are materialism. In fact, materialism just likes instant love. Maybe we often get worried as we cannot pursue the luxurious life. On the contrary, possess too much will bring unnecessary stress too. The possible reasons may be someone is coming from wealthy families, or singleton, or feel abnormal pressure in daily life. So, values of young people to be successful restructuring, we must start on an individual's lifestyle and consumption patterns.
  • Finally, there’s other factors may affect teenage values to think of love and deal with love. Autonomous individualism, Narcissistic hedonism, Positioning and Religion.
  • They has their value itself Hope you can find the love value which suitable for you

    36. 36. How is love form?

At the mouth and anal stage (Birth to 3 years),the mother's caresses and services in caring awaken the child's sex responses.

In the boy, this called “Oedipus complex”.

For the girl, also, the mother is the first love object, but by the “castration complex” and “penis-envy”, girls shifted the erotic impulse to the father.

    37. 37. Influence of the child

The child's sexual feeling is to be shifted from its parents to others, there must be some connection between the new love and the old one.

Resemblance between loved parent and unrelated person.(e.g. metal traits, name, occupation..)

The resemblance may not be fully realized.

The Child is more capable to love somebody if he feels satisfactory during the mouth and anal period.

    40. 40. Triangular Theory of Love

A theory of love developed by psychologist Robert Sternberg.

Intimacy – Which encompasses feelings of attachment, closeness, connectedness, and bondedness.

Passion – Which encompasses drives connected to both limerence and sexual attraction.

Commitment – Which encompasses, in the short term, the decision to remain with another, and in the long term, the shared achievements and plans made with that other.

    43. 43. The Science of Love

Three Stages of Falling in Love

Stage 1: Lust

Stage 2: Attraction

Stage 3: Attachment

    44. 44. Stage 1: Lust

Lust is driven by the sex hormones testosterone and oestrogen . Testosterone is not confined only to men. It has also been shown to play a major role in the sex drive of women. These hormones as Helen Fisher says "get you out looking for anything".

    45. 45. Stage 2: Attraction

In the attraction stage, a group of neuro-transmitters called 'monoamines' play an important role:

Dopamine - Also activated by cocaine and nicotine.

Norepinephrine - Otherwise known as adrenalin. Starts us sweating and gets the heart racing.

Serotonin - One of love's most important chemicals and one that may actually send us temporarily insane.

    46. 46. Stage 3: Attachment

Oxytocin - It helps cement the strong bond between mother and child. It is also released by both sexes during orgasm and it is thought that it promotes bonding when adults are intimate.

Vasopressin - Another important chemical in the long-term commitment stage. It is an important controller of the kidney and its role in long-term relationships was discovered when scientists looked at the prairie vole
