Angelo Vermeulen presents his game and biology insp more
Angelo Vermeulen presents his game and biology inspired art projects. He focuses on ‘Biomodd’, his global installation project that embeds collaborative creativity, game culture and ecology. The first version was created in Athens, Ohio between 2007 and 2008. New versions in the Philippines, Singapore and Brazil are currently underway. During the lecture, the project is elaborated upon using video excerpts, photos, work sketches and participant testimonies. A selection of previous projects that can be considered precursors to ‘Biomodd’ is also presented: ‘Drumlander’, a collaborative project on game culture with Canadian artist Louis Blackburn; ‘Blue Shift [LOG. 1]’, a Darwinian art installation conceived with evolutionary biologist Luc De Meester; and ‘Observatorium [LVN1]’, a monumental installation bringing together ecology and extraterrestrial electromagnetic energy.
