What is a podcast? <ul><li>“ T he method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication formats , for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.   3. 4. Step 1: Record <ul><li>Onto computer or digital recorder </li></ul><ul><li>Export as MP3 </li></ul>
  4. 5. 1. RECORD <ul><li>You will need: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Computer with sound card and a microphone to plug into mic jack, or </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A USB microphone with a built in soundcard </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Software that will record and convert to MP3 (Audacity) </li></ul></ul>

  7. 8. Export as MP3 file <ul><li>File | Export as MP3 </li></ul><ul><li>The first time you export as MP3 it will prompt you to download a lame_enc.dll file </li></ul>

  9. 10. Find & Open lame_enc.dll
  10. 11. Edit ID3 tags <ul><li>A tag edit window will pop up — add title, “artist” and choose genre (probably “other”) </li></ul>
  11. 12. Upload MP3 file to Web server <ul><li>Uploading instructions will vary from library to library </li></ul><ul><ul><li>copy and paste using Front Page; or </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>ftp; or </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>whatever method you normally use </li></ul></ul>

Step 2 - You can choose to email the URL link to parents, teachers, students or yourself. This link will allow you to listen to your podcast. You can also copy the link to paste in iTunes to subscribe to future episodes of the podcast. Step 3 - Open iTunes, click on the &quot;Advanced&quot; menu and choose Subscribe to podcast. Step 4 - Paste the podcast URL into this field and press enter. All new episodes of this podcast will be automatically downloaded into your iTunes. iTunes is a free download available at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
