Business Intelligence is a term that refers to the sum total, or effect, of gathering and processing data (Data Mining) , building rich and relevant information (Enterprise Reporting) , and feeding it back into daily operations (Performance Management) so that managers can make timely, effective decisions and better plans for the future. 06/06/09
    3. 06/06/09 … to reach into the data and find answers to questions or to explore new ideas. The use of Data Mining to identify trends or discover previously unknown relationships provides organizations with the capability to better understand their customers and the inter-relationships of organization performance and external factors. Data mining provides the means to investigate and understand the forces driving the enterprise and the tools necessary to feed the results back to the individuals most able to effect positive change based on the new information.
    4. 06/06/09 … to provide a unified, real-time picture of the enterprise. Enterprise reporting provides all levels of the organization with the Information needed to monitor and control activities and the related performance. The highlight of enterprise reporting is that the reports are populated with data from a single source, providing the often sought after “single source of the truth".
    5. 06/06/09 … by the use of metrics and dashboards . The performance management solution generally includes the establishment of metrics and the means too track them, and the development of dashboards to effectively communicate performance results.
